AVOID THESE ERRORS

5 Common Yellow Slip Mistakes

Assuming a Tourist Visa Is Enough

EU nationals have visa-free access to Cyprus, but that doesn't mean registration is optional. Anyone staying more than 90 days must apply for ARC regardless of visa requirements.

Missing the Income / Sufficient Resources Threshold

Cyprus requires proof of 'sufficient resources' — the unofficial minimum is ~€500/month, but banks and officers often expect significantly more. Underdocumented income leads to rejection.

Not Getting Health Insurance First

GESY (the national health system) is only available after you have ARC. For the application itself, private comprehensive health insurance is required — and must be valid before you apply.

Using the Wrong Address

The ARC address must exactly match your actual residence. PO boxes, mail-forwarding addresses, and temporary addresses are rejected. Rental agreements must be certified by the local Muhtar.

Delaying Non-Dom & Tax Residency Registration

ARC is a prerequisite for Cyprus tax residency applications. Delays in getting the Yellow Slip cascade into delays for your TIN, Non-Dom status, and bank account — adding weeks to your relocation timeline.

CLIENT STORY

“Nexora sorted the Yellow Slip in two weeks. I had the certificate before my apartment lease started, which meant I could open a bank account immediately. Worth every cent of the service fee.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Yellow Slip if I'm just working remotely for a foreign company?

Yes. If you are physically resident in Cyprus for more than 90 days, you are required to register as a resident EU citizen, regardless of where your employer or income is based.

Can I apply myself without Nexora's help?

Yes — the process is technically self-service. However, the District Administration offices require specific documentation in specific formats, and errors frequently cause 4–8 week delays. Our service eliminates that risk and handles the Greek-language documentation.

What is the difference between Yellow Slip and Pink Slip?

Yellow Slip (ARC / MEU1) is for EU/EEA nationals only. Pink Slip (Category F / MEU5 equivalent) is for Non-EU nationals. If you hold a non-EU passport (UK, US, Israeli, etc.), you need a different residence permit application.

How long does the Yellow Slip last?

The initial registration certificate has no expiry date. After 5 continuous years of legal residence, you are eligible for a Permanent Residence Card, which also has no expiry date and cannot be revoked under normal circumstances.

Do I need a Yellow Slip to open a bank account in Cyprus?

Yes. All Cyprus banks require ARC or an equivalent proof of registered residency before opening a personal account. This is true for both online (Revolut, Papaya) and local banks.
